The 2016 Capcom Pro Tour is reaching its height next month, and it'll all kick off on December 3 at PlayStation Experience in the Anaheim Convention centre. The Street Fighter V tournament will feature eight finalists battling for a prize pool of over $350,000, and what's interesting about this prize pool is that, aside from the base $250,000, over $100,000 has been raised so far through crowdfunding.
Anyone who plays Street Fighter V might notice that some pieces of DLC are labelled 'Capcom Pro Tour.' Those who purchase this DLC will see 30% of their purchase go directly to the prize pool for the Pro Tour - meaning you're directly contributing to the tournament, and getting some cool in-game luxuries whilst you're at it. This offer is still ongoing, so it wouldn't be a surprise if we saw the prize pool climb even higher over the next week.
This isn't the first time we've seen a prize pool increased thanks to the fans. Earlier this year Riot Games employed the same tactic, and anyone who bought a championship skin in-game would see a portion of their purchase contributed to the World Championships prize pool. Even before this, Valve used the same methods for their Dota2 International. Did you purchase any of the DLC?
