This past weekend saw North American CS:GO team Cloud9 claim North America's first ever title at a Valve Major tournament at the Eleague Major in Boston, and now a new tweet by esports organiser Eleague has revealed that the tournament in fact surpassed records for concurrent viewers on Twitch.

"Thank you so much for watching the ELEAGUE Major: Boston! Our Grand Final had more than 1,130,000 concurrent viewers, beating the all-time record for a single Twitch channel we set last year. NOICE," the tweet reads.

It's safe to say then that the competition was a definite success for Eleague, not only for the players but also for the fans watching, and it bodes well for the recently announced CS:GO Premier tournament they'll be hosting in July as well.

Considering these mammoth numbers on Twitch, this makes fellow event organiser ESL's decision to commit to Facebook as a streaming platform for ESL One and CS:GO Pro League competitions all the more concerning for fans, who already had a tough time watching the action at their ESL One Genting Dota 2 tournament.

Was the Eleague Major in Boston worthy of this record?
